Through NDP Comics, the Pelham sisters developed original comic series, collaborated with artists, and expanded access to independent publishing. In addition to her accomplishments as an artist, entrepreneur, and educator, Danielle Pelham has distinguished herself as an elite American Taekwondo athlete, earning national and international recognition for her achievements in one of the world’s most demanding martial arts.
Pelham represented the United States at the highest levels of competition and captured the gold medal in the women’s bantamweight division at the 2009 World Taekwondo Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, becoming a World Champion. In the championship tournament, she defeated Euda Carías of Honduras in the semifinal before overcoming Sarita Phongsri of Thailand in the final to claim the world title.
Her success on the international stage was built upon years of excellence in collegiate and national competition. Danielle won the 2006 National Collegiate Taekwondo Championship in the women’s flyweight division while representing Lake Washington Technical College, earning selection to the United States National Collegiate Taekwondo Team. She also represented the United States at the World University Taekwondo Championships, demonstrating her commitment to excellence both as a student-athlete and international competitor.
Throughout her competitive career, Pelham earned numerous medals at national and international events, including victories at AAU National Championships, the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association (NCTA) Championships, and international open tournaments. Her accomplishments established her as one of the premier American taekwondo athletes of her generation.
